Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury pencilled in for December 11 in Cardiff

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury are closing in on a December 11 showdown at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, according to Eddie Hearn.

The long-awaited British heavyweight clash has been linked with several dates and locations, but Hearn says December 11 is now effectively agreed.

One issue still being worked out is the start time. With the fight expected to have a huge international audience, the main event could begin later than a typical UK card — although Hearn insists fans should not expect a 3am start.

Joshua was reportedly keen for the fight to remain in Britain rather than move to New York, with Hearn saying the former champion pushed for the UK venue.

Frank Warren also confirmed that Fury agreed to the UK switch despite originally having contractual terms pointing elsewhere, claiming the Gypsy King believes he can stop Joshua.

The official announcement is now expected once the remaining venue and broadcast details are finalised.
