Conor Benn appears to be on the verge of securing the biggest fight of his career, with reports suggesting a world title clash against Ryan Garcia is nearing completion.
The proposed bout is expected to take place in Las Vegas on September 12, with negotiations said to be progressing well between both camps.
Garcia has also fuelled speculation by revealing that he expects an official announcement in the coming days, indicating the deal is close to being finalised.
The American captured the WBC welterweight title earlier this year and has since been linked with a first defence against Benn, who has emerged as the mandatory challenger.
The fight has faced hurdles behind the scenes, with broadcasting rights reportedly complicating negotiations after Benn signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing while Garcia remains tied to DAZN.
Despite those issues, talks have continued, raising hopes that one of the year’s biggest boxing events will soon be confirmed.
