Tyson Fury is planning an ambitious comeback to boxing, targeting three fights in 2026 with a potential world title shot among his goals. The former heavyweight champion, who announced his retirement in January last year, has once again returned to training and is preparing for another run in the ring.
The 37-year-old Gypsy King is expected to begin with a warm-up fight, with 6ft 6in Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov among the leading candidates. Fury has also hinted at an all-British clash with current WBO champion Fabio Wardley as part of his planned schedule.
Fury’s manager Spencer Brown confirmed that the former champion has rediscovered his passion for boxing after taking a year away from the sport. According to Brown, Fury is currently training in Thailand and is keen to fight three times as he builds momentum toward bigger bouts.
Fury retired in 2024 following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk but has since confirmed his intention to return this year. Brown emphasized that Fury needs a comeback fight to regain rhythm before taking on major opponents, though he made it clear that Fury is willing to fight anyone, including Wardley.
Makhmudov, 36, is coming off a victory over Dave Allen in October, while Wardley, 31, stopped Joseph Parker in the 11th round that same month to win the WBO interim title. Wardley was later elevated to full champion after Usyk vacated the belt in November.
