Boxing legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are officially set to face each other in a blockbuster exhibition bout in 2026. According to TMZ, both fighters have signed contracts, with the fight being organized by CSI Sports/Fight Sports. While an exact date and venue have not yet been confirmed, the event is expected to take place in the spring.
Tyson, now 59, announced the news on Instagram Thursday night. The former heavyweight champion last stepped into the ring against Jake Paul, where his performance raised concerns about his health. Despite those worries, Tyson is ready to return, calling the matchup with Mayweather “as unpredictable as it gets.”
“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this,” Tyson said. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”
Mayweather, 48, retired in 2017 with a flawless 50-0 professional record, most famously defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in his final pro bout. Since then, he has stayed active with exhibition fights, including one against Logan Paul. Known for his unmatched defensive skills and discipline, Mayweather insisted his legacy cannot be tarnished.
“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather said. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and legendary. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
The fight will not count toward either man’s professional record, but with two of boxing’s biggest names returning to the spotlight, it promises to be one of the most talked-about events in recent years. Tyson’s last fight against Jake Paul drew an audience of 108 million viewers, setting the stage for another global spectacle.
