Khabib Nurmagomedov has put aside his long-running feud with Conor McGregor to wish the Irishman well. The two clashed in October 2018 at UFC 229 in Las Vegas in the biggest pay-per-view bout in UFC history, where Nurmagomedov won via fourth-round submission.
Despite years of verbal jabs from McGregor, Nurmagomedov recently said at a Q&A event in New York that he hopes his former rival can turn his life around. Without mentioning McGregor by name, the retired UFC lightweight champion remarked: “Allah always gives a chance to come back. I think he has a chance… If he changes, he can inspire many other lives. If not, it will be punishment all his life.”
McGregor, who has faced multiple legal issues in recent years, has not fought since breaking his leg in 2021 during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. He recently re-entered the UFC’s testing pool as he eyes a return to the Octagon.
