Daniel Dubois Drops in Ring Magazine Rankings After Usyk Defeat

Daniel Dubois has taken a major tumble in the Ring Magazine’s heavyweight rankings following his knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk at Wembley. The British fighter was stopped in the fifth round, marking his second defeat to the Ukrainian star in two years.

Usyk retains his position at the top of the heavyweight rankings, while Dubois has dropped from second to fourth. Tyson Fury, despite announcing his retirement earlier this year, remains the No.1 contender behind Usyk – a decision that has sparked confusion among fans.

“Why is Tyson Fury even in the rankings? I thought he retired,” one fan wrote, while another added, “How is Tyson Fury still number 1?”

Joseph Parker is now the Ring’s No.2 contender and has been officially mandated by the WBO to face Usyk next. Agit Kabayel, the undefeated WBC interim champion, takes the third spot.

Anthony Joshua, who hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Dubois last September, has fallen to fifth. Filip Hrgovic holds sixth place ahead of his upcoming August 16 clash with David Adeleye in Riyadh.

Adeleye sits outside the top 10 following his 2023 defeat to Fabio Wardley, who now ranks seventh. Zhilei Zhang follows in eighth after his February loss to Kabayel, while Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba complete the top ten following their draw in May.
