Jake Paul has thrown down a bold challenge to the UFC, urging them to approve a blockbuster “winner-takes-all” heavyweight clash between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou.
Jones, the current UFC heavyweight champion, has shown little interest in facing top contender Tom Aspinall. But he did spark excitement by posting online about a potential super-fight with Ngannou, calling it “a clash of champions” and “two real legacies colliding.”
Ngannou, who left the UFC in 2022 to join the PFL and pursue boxing, quickly responded: “You take care of the UFC, I’ll take care of the PFL, and we’ll finally find out who’s the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT.”
Backing the idea, PFL founder Donn Davis proposed a high-stakes deal where the winner’s side takes 100% of the profits. “Francis wins – the PFL and Francis split the profits. Jon wins – the UFC and Jon split them,” he said.
Jake Paul, also signed with the PFL, added: “The perfect final dance for the two greatest MMA heavyweights of all time. Big fight for the sport. Big business. Who doesn’t want it?”
Ngannou’s last MMA win came over Renan Ferreira after a mixed run in boxing that included a knockdown of Tyson Fury but a KO loss to Anthony Joshua. Jones, meanwhile, has been inactive since defeating Stipe Miocic in 2023.
Despite fan demand, UFC president Dana White remains focused on Tom Aspinall, stating, “It’s Aspinall’s fight… I don’t have Ngannou under contract.”
While the politics are complicated, the call for Jones vs. Ngannou continues to gain steam — and the fans are watching.
