British heavyweight Dillian Whyte will no longer return to the ring this weekend as originally planned. The 36-year-old was set to appear on the undercard of the Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni fight at Portman Road but has officially pulled out.
Promoter Frank Warren confirmed the news, citing a potentially major opportunity in August. Speaking to Box Nation, Warren said: “He’s not going to be on the card now. He’s had an opportunity of a big, big fight in August, and we’re looking to get that over the line. That’s going to take priority.”
Whyte’s opponent for this weekend had never been publicly named. His last bout came in December 2023, when he defeated Ebenezer Tetteh via seventh-round stoppage.
Rumors are swirling that his next opponent could be former WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie, setting up a high-stakes all-British showdown later this summer.
