Josh Kelly has thrown down the gauntlet to both Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr., eyeing blockbuster fights in the super-welterweight division.
Eubank recently edged Benn on points in their heated April clash, but was later hospitalised for two days due to severe dehydration. The 35-year-old also missed the 160lb limit by 0.05lb, triggering a £375,000 fine, while Benn had to bulk up from his usual 147lb.
Now fighting at 154lb, Kelly is open to welcoming Benn to his division—or even stepping up in weight to face Eubank. “I’d probably knock Conor Benn out, if not totally outbox him, and I believe I’d totally stand Eubank on his head,” Kelly told Sky Sports. “I think I’ve got more of a chance getting the Conor Benn fight.”
Kelly, 31, even offered to meet Benn at a 157lb catchweight. “In a heartbeat,” he said. “It wouldn’t even be a question. It would just be like, ‘Yes, sign, done.’”
Ahead of his Friday return in Newcastle against Romanian Flavius Biea, Kelly is targeting big paydays and high-profile names. “Conor’s a clever fighter in terms of marketing. I should start shouting everybody out,” he added. “I’m only fighting the ones who are going to make me the most money.”
