UFC legend Jon Jones has sent shockwaves through the MMA world by revealing that he has a fight agreement in place with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
The long-anticipated unification bout between Jones, 37, and Aspinall, 32, has been building momentum since late last year. While fans have eagerly awaited official confirmation, Jones recently revealed during a seminar in Phuket, Thailand, that both fighters have agreed to keep details under wraps until the UFC makes its own announcement.
“The UFC, I, and Tom all have a lot going on behind the scenes,” said Jones. “Right now, Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements, so I legally can’t really talk about it.”
Despite teasing retirement in recent months, Jones insisted he’s not holding Aspinall back and that the UFC is aware of his plans. His comments have ignited fan speculation, with some predicting a blockbuster clash and others bracing for a possible retirement announcement.
Jones hasn’t fought since defeating Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November, while Aspinall has been out of action since his 60-second KO win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 last July.
With both fighters ready and an agreement reportedly in place, all eyes are now on the UFC to make it official.
