JORGE MASVIDAL has announced a shock retirement U-turn – just in time for rival Leon Edwards’ UFC 300 fight.
Masvidal called time on his career in April after four losses on the bounce but did keep the door open to a return.
Now eight months later, it appears the American is willing to come back as he posted online: “Unretired.”
And fans could not help notice that the announcement comes swiftly after Edwards claimed he would be fighting on the historic UFC 300 card.
One said: “300?”
Another added: “Imagine if UFC does Leon Edwards vs Jorge Masvidal for #UFC300.”
Masvidal returned 13 months later but following defeat to Gilbert Burns, he retired.
Edwards, 32, meanwhile won the welterweight crown with a head kick KO against Kamaru Usman, 36, and then retained the belt in a rematch.
He would go onto defeat Covington in December and recently revealed he is set to fight at UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas.
Contenders Belal Muhammad, 35, and Burns, 37, are frontrunners to face Edwards for the strap.
